ETE21 ONLINE SESSIONS: European-based composers wanted!
Are you a European-based taiko composer? Would you like to share one of your pieces through online sessions between now and August?

In the spirit of showcasing European taiko to the world, we’d love to host you as part of the ETE21.
Leading by example, Jonas and Mel are kicking things off with the TAIKO BASTARDS piece “Wombat Combat” as a FREE 5 week course, starting 9th May.

WOMBAT COMBAT CRASH COURSE with TAIKO BASTARDS
Date: May 9th – June 6th
Time: Sundays 7.30pm German time
6.30pm GMT (UK) |10.30am PST (US) | 1.30pm EST (US)
Content: Learn the chu-daiko part of “Wombat Combat” in this fast paced series, while Jonas and Mel also sneakily teach basic rhythm and movement fundamentals. They’ll explain all the extra bits that couldn’t be shared through notation and training videos.

About the composer: Jonas vom Orde, is a co-founder of TAIKO BASTARDS and one of the primary organisers of the ETE21. In his non-taiko time, he is a freelance live and studio drummer, working with the award winning Rock-Noir band, WellBad. A graduate of the Hamburg School of Music and the PopKurs, he transfers an in-depth understanding of music theory and technique to the taiko drum.

Content: Learn all of the voices and basic ideas of the official ETE21 theme song. This course also offers a slightly different structure than the previous sessions led by Jonathan Kirby.

About the composer: Jonathan Kirby has been the artistic director of Kagemusha Taiko since 1998. Kagemusha Taiko have performed across Europe as well as in Japan and USA, earning plaudits for their distinctive style and original voice. In 2005, Jonathan created the first UK Taiko Festival, and in 2016 he directed the inaugural European Taiko Conference. Moving through VHS tape to DVD to online, Jonathan has produced a range of taiko teaching training videos and books that have sold across the English-speaking world, and in 2018 he published “The Way of the Drum – taiko without borders“, an account of his philosophy of taiko and how he had put it into practice over the previous 20 years. Jonathan’s current focus is on teaching, and on new compositions.

ETE21 ONLINE SESSIONS: Taikokomponisten aus Europa gesucht!
Lebst du in Europa und hast bereits Taikostücke komponiert? Würdest du gerne eines dieser Stücke mit der Community in Form einer Online Session im Zeitraum zwischen Mai und August teilen?
Wenn du beide Fragen mit “JA!” beantworten würdest, dann melde dich bei uns!
Der Grundidee der ETE21 folgend würden wir deinen Taikokompositionen gerne eine Plattform geben und diese als einen Teil der Expo in einer oder mehreren von uns gehosteten Onlinesession/s präsentieren.
Wir machen dafür den ersten Schritt und starten diese Online Sessions mit “Wombat Combat” von TAIKO BASTARDS. Dieser Kurs erstreckt sich über 5 wöchentliche Sessions und startet am 9. Mai.

- WOMBAT COMBAT CRASH COURSE mit den TAIKO BASTARDS

Inhalt: In dieser Workshopserie wird die Chu-Daiko Stimme von “Wombat Combat” vermittelt. Besonderer Fokus wird hierbei auf all jene Komponenten gelenkt, welche nicht durch Notation und Trainigsvideos erklärt und festgehalten werden können. Das Stück wird genutzt um grundlegende Bewegungs- und Musikprinzipien auf praktische Art und Weise zu vermitteln.

Über den Komponisten: Jonas vom Orde ist ein Gründungsmitglied der TAIKO BASTARDS und einer der Hauptorganisatoren der ETE21. Inhalt: Neueinstieg oder Wiederholung von Melius Una in deutscher Sprache. Lerne sämtliche Stimmen und grundlegende Ideen des offiziellen ETE21 Themensongs. Dieser Kurs bietet zudem eine leicht andere Vermittlungsstruktur als die vorausgegangenen von Jonathan Kirby geleiteten Sessions an.
